About Me
I live in Surbiton with two (almost!) grown up children, my lovely husband and our cat. I have been an Ofsted registered childminder for the last 17 years. Working with children and families has been a wonderful way to stay at home with my own kids while earning a living. I have loved seeing the children in my care grow from babies to confident school children. Childminding has given me a wide experience of many different babies and children so I’m well equipped to help with any older siblings as well as your new born.
I expanded my role to become a postnatal doula so that I can also work with new mums and babies in the very early days after their birth. These early weeks with your newborn are such a special time but can also be quite challenging. For many women, this is a brand new stage in their lives. I have vivid memories of getting home with our first baby completely exhausted and wondering vaguely what to do next. Three days later the baby blues hormones kicked in and everything fell apart. Having done some planning for this ‘fourth trimester’, having lots of emotional support, some practical help and lots of encouragement would have been invaluable. As your postnatal doula I’m there to ‘mother the mother’ caring for you and helping you find a calm space with your baby to recover from birth, grow in confidence and have a smooth transition into motherhood.
My qualifications include the Younique Postnatal Doula Initial Preparation Course, Training in Postnatal Planning, Breastfeeding workshops, Paediatric First Aid, Childcare Level 3 and Level 3 Safeguarding training. I am DBS checked, insured and a member of Doula UK.
I have hands on experience with a wide range and ages of babies and children from newborn up to pre-teen. I have also worked with twins and children with special needs.
On a practical level I’m a good cook and a good common sense house keeper. I can get dinner ready for your table, stock your freezer, do your laundry, entertain older siblings, do the school run and much more. I can also just hold your baby and care for them while you sleep, shower or just have some time for yourself. My role is to look after you and give you time to nurture yourself as well as your baby.
